K-9 Narcotic & Explosive Detection

TEMPLE 57 K-9 NARCOTIC & EXPLOSIVE DETECTION

At Temple 57 we train our bomb & narcotic K-9s through realistic narcotic & explosive detection training. We use true real explosive materials in training, not simulated scents.

Each dog learns to detect the unique scent of different explosive materials. By the end of their training, our bomb dogs are able to detect approximately 27 different combinations of explosive materials — in trace samples and in bulk samples. Our narcotic dogs are able to detect from 6-8 different narcotics.

As ‘passive-alert’ dogs, our bomb & narcotic dogs learn to signal the presence of anything suspicious by assuming an unassisted ‘sit’ position near a suspected explosive device or narcotics. During our explosive & narcotic detection dog training, we recreate realistic scenarios and situations bomb dogs are likely to encounter when they are working in the real world.

VP Chad Nevarez & OM Justin Metoyer participated in the 2018 Murrieta Police Department First Annual K-9 Trials.
